SYMPTOMS
When you try to use Help or a Troubleshooter, you may receive one of the following error messages:
Pressing F1 may still start Windows 2000 Help.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur after you install Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 Beta, or if a corrupted Help file exists in the %SystemRoot%\Help folder.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue:
- If you have installed it, uninstall Internet Explorer 5.5 Beta. If this does not fix the problem, continue to the next step.
- Download the Help files for your version of Windows 2000 from the following Microsoft Web site:
Delete the files in the %SystemRoot%\Help folder, and then extract the downloaded files into the %SystemRoot%\Help folder. If this does not resolve the problem, continue to the next step.
