CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the default scheme is selected on the Appearance tab of the Display Properties box.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, you must contact Symantec Corporation, the manufacturer of Norton CleanSweep 4.5, for updated software that works with Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me).

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, you can change the default setting for the desktop (in the Scheme box) from Windows Standard to another setting. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. In Control Panel, double-click Display.
  2. Click the Appearance tab and in the Scheme box, click a scheme other than Windows Standard.
  3. Click OK.

NOTE: If you reselect the default color scheme, the problem does not recur.
