SYMPTOMS
Under certain circumstances when you are running an application that uses the data link control (DLC) protocol for network communications, your computer may stop responding (hang) and the following error message may be displayed on a blue screen:
NOTE: The fourth parameter of the stop code may differ.
CAUSE
When a DLC buffer pool structure is initialized, the number of elements in the array of buffer headers in the pool is being improperly initialized to one too few. As a result, a failure can occur when the largest index element is accessed.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS
