SYMPTOMS

When you edit an existing Visio drawing embedded in a Microsoft Word document, you may receive the following error message:

File Not Found.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Visio 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.  This problem was corrected in Microsoft Visio 2000 SR-1.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Start Word.
  2. On the Insert menu, click Object, click the Create From File tab, click Browse, and then select an existing Visio drawing.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Right-click the Visio drawing, point to Visio Object, and then click Edit.
