SYMPTOMS

With certain printers, text and line shadows are printed incorrectly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Visio 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1).

To temporarily work around this problem, set the printer driver to print text as graphics.

To set the printer driver to print text as graphics, follow these steps.

NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

To set printing options for graphics:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
  2. Right-click the icon for the printer that you are using, and then click Properties.
  3. Click the Graphics tab.


The setting that you change to print text as graphics depends on the type of printer that you have.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.  This problem was corrected in Microsoft Visio 2000 SR-1.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Create a diagram.
  2. Select several shapes.
  3. On the Format menu, click Shadow to apply a shadow to the selected shapes.
  4. Print the drawing.


On certain printers (such as the HP Laserjet 5M), note that the shadows are printed incorrectly.
