SYMPTOMS
When you try to select objects from an Active Directory domain, you may receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This problem can occur with computers that are multi-homed if the internal network interface connection is not listed as the first connection to be used by DNS and other network services in Network and Dial-up Connections Advanced Settings.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, change the order in which network connections are used:
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network and Dial-up Connections.
- On the Advanced menu, click Advanced Settings.
- On the Adapters and Bindings tab, click your internal local area connection in the Connections box.
- Click the Up arrow at the right-side of the box until it is the first connection in the list, and then click OK.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
