This article was previously published under Q262871

SYMPTOMS

If you have Clip Gallery installed on your system, or have the Run From CD option selected, the following error message may occur:

Cannot Start Clipart Gallery Run Install

CAUSE

This behavior can occur for one of the following reasons:

  • Artgalry.exe is not registered.
  • The Run from CD option is selected, and the compact disc has been removed from the CD-ROM drive during the session.

RESOLUTION

Method 1: Restart Microsoft Windows

The Clip Gallery program may not have finished its setup process. Restart Windows to allow Clip Gallery to finish the setup process and operate normally.

Method 2: Register Artgalry.exe

In some cases the Clip Gallery program is not properly registered to run on your computer. Follow these steps to re-register the program:

NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

  1. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
  2. In the Named box, type Artgalry.exe; in the Look in box, select drive C (assuming this is your hard disk drive), and then click Find Now.
  3. Double-click the Artgalry.exe icon.

You should receive the following message:

Clip Gallery is now configured to run on your computer.

  4. Click OK to close the message.

Method 3: Insert Compact Disc

If you have selected the Run from CD setting for Clip Gallery 5.0, all that you need to do is insert the appropriate compact disc for whichever Microsoft Office program that you selected this setting for.

NOTE: If you selected this setting for each Office 2000 program, you need to insert the particular disc that corresponds to the program that you are working in. For example, if you are running Microsoft Publisher 2000, you must insert Microsoft Office CD-ROM 2 to access the Clip Gallery program.

Method 4: Install Clip Gallery 5.0

  1. Quit all programs that are currently open.
  2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, click Microsoft Office 2000 or the the appropriate Office 2000 stand-alone product, and then click Add/Remove.
  5. In the Microsoft Office 2000 Maintenance Mode dialog box, click Add or Remove Features.
  6. Click the plus sign (+) next to Office Tools.
  7. Click the plus sign (+) next to Clip Gallery.
  8. Click the Clip Gallery icon.
  9. On the shortcut menu, click Run from My Computer if you want to install only the Clip Gallery program, or click Run All from My Computer if you want to install all of the clip art that is included with Clip Gallery.
  10. Click Update Now to allow Office 2000 Setup to install the components that you have selected.
