How to Print from MS-DOS on Your Windows 98-Based or Windows 95-Based Computer
You can print from an MS-DOS-based program running on your Windows 98-based or Windows 95-based computer. To do so, use the following steps:
- If you are printing to a local printer, your computer is already configured to print from MS-DOS, and you can skip the remaining steps. For example, after you click Start, point to Programs, and then click MS-DOS Prompt, you can print from your MS-DOS-based program or from the command prompt. If you want to print to a network printer, continue to the next step.
- If you are installing the printer for the first time, skip to step 3. If your printer is already installed, delete the printer using the following steps, and then continue to step 3:
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Printers.
- Right-click the printer you want to use in MS-DOS, click Delete, and then click OK.
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Printers.
- Double-click Add Printer. Follow the instructions on the screen to install your network printer, and when you are prompted to provide the network path or queue name, click Yes under Do you print from MS-DOS-based programs.
- Continue to follow the instructions on the screen to finish installing your network printer.
How to Print from MS-DOS on Your Computer Running MS-DOS
If you are running MS-DOS as your operating system, printing functionality is provided by your MS-DOS-based programs. For information about how to print from your MS-DOS-based programs, contact the manufacturer of the program, or view the documentation included with the program. Note that the most common method to print from MS-DOS-based programs is to click Print on the File menu.
