SYMPTOMS
When you use the Microsoft SideWinder Dual Strike in first-person games such as Quake II, you may be unable to use the game controller to control your view in the game.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if either of the following conditions are true:
- The Mouselook or Freelook feature is not enabled in the game.
- The SideWinder Dual Strike is configured to use Joystick mode.

To resolve this issue, use the following methods.
Enable Mouselook or Freelook in the Game

Configure the SideWinder Dual Strike to Use Dual Strike FX Mode
To enable Dual Strike FX mode:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Game Controllers.
- Click Microsoft Sidewinder Dual Strike, and then click Properties.
- On the Settings tab, click Dual Strike FX, and then click OK.
