%USERNAME% Does Not Function Properly When Setting Terminal Services Home Directory |

SYMPTOMS
When you assign a Terminal Services Home Directory for a user through Active Directory Users and Computers or Local Users and Groups, the %USERNAME% variable does not function properly. For example, if a user's (for example, TESTUSER) Terminal Services Home Directory is assigned as X: \\server\share\%username%, when the user logs on, drive X is connected to \\server\share, but there is not a subfolder called TESTUSER.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.

If you type SET from an MS-DOS command prompt, HOMEDRIVE equals %SYSTEMDRIVE%, and HOMEPATH equals Documents and Settings\TESTUSER. In this case, TESTUSER's HOMEDRIVE should equal X: and HOMEPATH should equal TESTUSER.
