SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Excel 2000 Help states that Excel can open Quattro Pro files with the extensions .wb2 and .wb3, which are for Quattro Pro for Windows versions 6.0 and 7.0. This is partially incorrect. Excel can directly open files for Quattro Pro for Windows up through version 5.0, including Quattro Pro/DOS (*.wq1) and Quattro Pro 1.0/5.0 for Windows (*.wb1). Excel can also open Quattro Pro for Windows 7.0 files (*.wb3) with the Quattro Pro 7.0 Converter for Excel 2000.

NOTE: The Quattro Pro 7.0 Converter does not support the Quattro Pro 7.0/8.0 WB3 file format from Quattro Pro for Windows 8.0.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

NOTE: The information listed in the readme file for Excel 2000, Xlread9.txt, is partially correct and is located on CD1 in the following folder:

<CD-ROM drive:>\pfiles\msoffice\office
