This article was previously published under Q219646

SYMPTOMS

When you publish a default document with an .asp extension to a Web server that does not have .asp listed as an allowed default document, the page name and extension may be changed when you publish the page. When this happens, you lose all database functionality in the page.

NOTE: This problem may occur on Windows NT and UNIX servers.

RESOLUTION

The resolve this problem, add default.asp to the list of valid home page names in the configuration file of the Web server.

For more information about changing the configuration file, please see the documentation for your Web server.

NOTE: Default.asp does not have to be the first name in the list of possible home page names; however, it must be somewhere in the list.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem may occur on UNIX servers, even if ChiliSoft is installed on the server. The Mime types for .ASP and .ASA are registered on the server, but the default document names are not changed by the software.
