SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 and then run a program that uses the CPUID instruction on a computer that has an Intel Mobile Pentium II or Mobile Celeron CPU (with on-die L2 cache), the function call may incorrectly return one of the feature bits set to a value of one (1) instead of zero (0).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT version 4.0 Service Pack 5.
