Question: Can you give me an overview of how macros work in the 2.x versions of Multiplan?
Response: Multiplan 2.x sees macros as alpha cell entries. They are composed by entering a string of characters and macro key codes in a cell as Alpha> (See Appendix A in the Multiplan 2.0 manual for key codes). The “sparse matrix” algorithm is most efficient when macros (and data) are placed as far left in the spreadsheet as possible. Multiplan identifies a macro by the setting made in the command menu NAME option. The field labeled “Macro:”, when set to “yes”, identifies the named cell as a macro. The “command key(s):” field identifies a 1 or 2 letter command key that activates the macro when pressed in combination with the <Alt> key or <Control>A.
These command keys are optional as far as defining a macro, but must be entered if the macro is to be accessed directly from the keyboard. Note: If a single letter is used in the command key, then no other command keys can be defined using that letter as the first letter in a command key.
