SUMMARY

This article describes how to copy to your hard disk the clip art included on the Microsoft PhotoDraw 2000 Disc 3 CD-ROM, and how to configure Clip Gallery 5.0 to use the clip art on your hard disk when you want to insert clip art into a PhotoDraw project.

When you configure Clip Gallery 5.0 to use the PhotoDraw clip art on your hard disk, you do not need to insert the PhotoDraw Disc 3 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive if you want to insert clip art into a PhotoDraw project.

The following table lists the clip art catalog folders that are located in the Clipart folder on the PhotoDraw 2000 Disc 3 CD-ROM as well as the amount of hard disk space that is required to copy the clip art catalog folders to your hard disk.

NOTE: A total of 370 megabytes (MB) of hard disk space is required to copy all of the clip art on the PhotoDraw 2000 Disc 3 CD-ROM to your hard disk.

To copy the PhotoDraw 2000 clip art to your hard disk and then configure Clip Gallery 5.0 to index the clip art from your hard disk (instead of from the PhotoDraw 2000 Disc 3 CD-ROM), use the following methods in the order in which they are presented.

Copy the Clip Art Catalogs to Your Hard Disk

To copy the clip art catalogs to your hard disk:

  1. Insert the PhotoDraw 2000 Disc 3 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
  2. If you want to copy all of the PhotoDraw clip art to your hard disk, copy the Clipart folder from the PhotoDraw 2000 Disc 3 CD-ROM to your hard disk.


If you want to copy only certain clip art catalog folders to your hard disk, create a Clipart folder on your hard disk, and then copy only the catalog folders that you want to your hard disk.

For information about how to copy a folder in Microsoft Windows, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type copying, click the copying files, folders Help topic, and then click Display.

For information about how to create a folder in Windows, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type creating, click the creating folders Help topic, and then click Display.

NOTE: It can take as long as 30 minutes to copy all of the clip art from the CD-ROM to your hard disk.

Configure Clip Gallery 5.0 to Use the Clip Art on the Hard Disk

After you copy the clip art folder or folders to your hard disk, you need to configure Clip Gallery 5.0 to use the clip art on your hard disk. To do this:

  1. Start PhotoDraw 2000.
  2. Click Blank picture, and then click OK.
  3. Click the Default Picture icon, and then click OK.
  4. On the Insert menu, click Clip Art.
  5. Search for a picture that is located in one of the catalog folders that you copied to your hard disk. To do this:
    1. In the Search for clips box, type the search words listed under Search words in the following table to locate a specific picture in a catalog folder, and then press ENTER.

    2. In the found catalog of pictures, find the picture that is described under Picture description in the preceding table.
    3. Right-click the picture, and then click Clip Properties.
    4. Under File Information, note the file name next to Name, and check this name against the name under File name in the preceding table. If the file names match, proceed to the next step. If not, continue searching until you find the correct picture.
  6. Remove the PhotoDraw 2000 Disc 3 CD-ROM from the CD-ROM drive.
  7. Click Refresh. Clip Gallery 5.0 displays the following message:

    The file filename is stored on a disc called 'PhotoDraw - Disc 3'. Please insert this disc.

  8. Click Look Elsewhere.
  9. Browse to the location of the Clipart folder on your hard disk that contains the catalog that you just found in Clip Gallery 5.0. The folder name or subfolder name that you are searching for is listed under Catalog folder in the preceding table.

    When you find the Clipart folder, Clip Gallery 5.0 automatically indexes this catalog on your hard disk. Clip Gallery 5.0 is now configured to use this folder when you want to insert a picture that is located within this catalog.
  10. Click OK to close the Clip Properties dialog box.
  11. Repeat steps 5 through 10 for each catalog folder.
