SYMPTOMS
When you run the Microsoft Office Setup program, you may receive the following error message:
SETUP.EXE could not be found
Additionally, the Setup Disk 1 contains an incorrect number of files, and does not contain a SETUP.EXE file. There may also be a 0 byte file located on the disk with a name similar to _4EIBM.3.3.
CAUSE
These problems occur if the "NOINT" virus is present on your computer or has infected your Microsoft Setup disks.
WORKAROUND
To work around these problems:
- Run a vaccination utility for the "NOINT" virus. (To obtain this utility, contact your local software vendor.)
- You will need to reinstall Microsoft Office.
To obtain replacement disks for Microsoft Office, call the Microsoft Order Desk at (800) 360-7561. If you are outside the United States, contact the Microsoft subsidiary for your area. To locate your subsidiary, see the Microsoft World Wide Offices Web site at:
CAUTION: Be sure to check your computer for viruses before you reinstall this or any other software.
STATUS
Microsoft has rigorous quality control measures to insure that viruses are not on disks that we ship. The Setup disks for Microsoft Office are distributed virus-free in sealed, clear, plastic envelopes that display a message about the Microsoft software license agreement. If disks are purchased in any other type of package, they should not be used.

The NOINT virus is a boot-sector virus that can result in damaged file linkage, changes to system run-time operation, and changes to the boot sector.
