OFFICE: MOM Defaults to Large Buttons on Some Displays

Q121616

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office for Windows, versions 4.0, 4.2, 4.3

SUMMARY

When the Microsoft Office Manager (MOM) toolbar is installed using certain video display drivers, the MOM toolbar button size will default to Large Buttons and will be displayed in the center of the screen.

MORE INFORMATION

By default, the toolbar button size for the MOM toolbar is small buttons and the toolbar is anchored in the upper-right corner of the screen. However, if a display driver with a resolution of 1024x768 or higher with Large Fonts is being used, the toolbar button size defaults to large buttons and the toolbar is displayed unanchored in the middle of the screen.

WORKAROUND

To display the MOM toolbar so that it has small buttons and is anchored in the upper-right corner of the screen, do the following:

  1. From the MOM toolbar, choose the Microsoft Office icon, and choose Customize from the menu.
  2. Select the View tab in the Customize dialog box.
  3. Change the Toolbar button size to Small Buttons.
  4. The toolbar will now be displayed with small buttons and will be anchored in the upper-right corner of the screen.

NOTE: With some high-resolution video drivers, the MOM toolbar buttons may not be displayed clearly.
