What Is Required
Disks: Printer disk 1, Printer disk 2, and Supplemental Printer disks
Manuals: “Using Microsoft Word” and “Printer Information for Microsoft Word”
Font PRD files to install MS Word’s internal, cartridge, and soft font printer description (PRD) files:
Insert Printer disk 1 in drive A.
At the DOS prompt, type
copy a:hpdwn. c:
and press ENTER.
Insert Printer disk 2 in drive A, then type
copy a:hp. c:
and press ENTER.
These instructions are incorrect for Word version 5.00. Support for the LaserJet IIP is provided beginning in Word version 5.00a.
The above instructions only describe disk locations for the 5.25-inch disks. The 3.5-inch disks containing drivers for the LaserJet IIP are the Printers and Utilities/Printers disks.
The program directory for Word version 5.00 or 5.50 may not be C:, so the correct path will need to be substituted (for example, C:). Finally, these instructions may cause problems in situations with limited disk space because more than 30 files will be copied over as a result of the Copy command (approximately 200K of printer files). You should only copy the printer driver that you need to the destination disk. Refer to the “Printer Information for Microsoft Word” version 5.00 or 5.50 manual for information on the correct printer driver.
Word 5.00 customers needing printer drivers for the HP LaserJet IIP should contact Microsoft Sales Information Center at (800) 426-9400 to update to Word version 5.00b.
Word 5.50 customers should run the Word Setup program to install the HP LaserJet IIP printer drivers.
