Summary:

When transferring files between the Macintosh and the PC via modem or communications package, the MacBinary option on the Macintosh must not be selected so the the files can transfer correctly. With MacBinary enabled, the file will open, but information in the document will not display correctly.

The MacBinary option available in Macintosh communications software is used only when transferring from one Macintosh to another Macintosh. Environment-specific information is transferred to keep the Macintosh file intact. Once an Excel for Windows file is transferred to the Macintosh (without using MacBinary), the file type must be changed to XLS, and its creator type must be changed to XCEL.
