EPS File from Lotus Freelance Plus 3.0 Does Not Insert

Summary:
An Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) print file created in Lotus Freelance Plus version 3.0 cannot be inserted into Word for Windows via the Insert Picture command in its original form. If you attempt to insert such a file, Word returns the following error message:
Error! Cannot read or display file
The above is not a problem with the Word for Windows EPS graphics filter EPSIMP.FLT. Instead, the problem occurs because Lotus Freelance Plus version 3.0 EPS print files contain a syntax error that prevents full adaptation to the Adobe EPS files specification.
Freelance Plus EPS print files contain a first line that appears as follows:
%%!PS-Adobe-2.0 EPSF-1.2
This statement contains a syntax error (an extra % [percent] sign) rather than the required syntax specified by Adobe.
To correct this problem, load the EPS file into Word for Windows as text, remove the second % sign on the first line of the file, and save again as text.
The Lotus Freelance Plus EPS print file can now be successfully inserted as a picture into Word for Windows.

Version 2.0 of the Adobe Document Structuring Conventions requires that the first comment in the header (the first line in an EPS file) be the version comment:
%!PS-Adobe-x.x EPSF-x.x
This indicates to a calling application such as Word for Windows that the PostScript language file conforms to this standard. The version number following the word “Adobe-” indicates the level of adherence to the standard PostScript Document Structuring Conventions. The version number following the word “EPSF” (where F stands for format) indicates the level of EPSF-specific comments.
