Summary: If an elementary data item has an associated 88-level entry, the MOVE CORRESPONDING statement does not move data into the corresponding elementary target field. As stated on Page 178 of the “Microsoft COBOL Reference Manual,” “The group items must not be described by the USAGE IS INDEX clause or the level numbers 66, 77, or 88.” This feature is in accordance with the ANSI ’74 standard.
