====================================================================== 1.10 OS/2 err msg
SUMMARY
Choosing File (linked=yes) from the Insert menu in Word for OS/2 to insert an Excel file will return
Error! Cannot open file
if the Excel for OS\2 spreadsheet is concurrently open and the Word for OS\2 Show All status is not enabled. If the Show All option is enabled, an INCLUDE statement will be inserted within field markers, making it appear that the file was inserted correctly. Reversing the Show All status will cause the error to become visible, confirming that the file was inserted incorrectly.
Using the Insert File (linked=no) command will return the warning
Cannot open document
if the Excel for OS\2 spreadsheet is concurrently open. It is not a factor whether the Show all status is enabled or disabled.
In both cases (linked or unlinked), make sure that the Excel for OS\2 spreadsheet is neither the active file nor one of the background files.
