SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. You upgrade a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 site to Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. You click Calendar in a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site. Then, you click Connect to Outlook to synchronize Microsoft Office Outlook calendar items. In this scenario, you cannot create new Outlook calendar items.
CAUSE
This issue occurs when one or more permissions on the Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 virtual server have been removed or masked. In this case, the Manage List Permissions permission on the Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 virtual server is not removed correctly when you upgrade to Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, you must reset the permissions in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration.
- On the Central Administration page, click Application Management.
- On the Application Management page, click User Permissions for Web Application under Application Security.
- On the User Permissions for Web Application page, select the Web application that you want.
Note Do not make any changes.
- Click Save.
