Error message if you try to create a Windows Live ID when you create a Zune account: "Please enter a valid e-mail address"

SYMPTOMS

If you try to create a Windows Live ID when you create a Zune account, you receive the following error message:

Please enter a valid e-mail address.

CAUSE

The e-mail address that you enter may be part of a managed domain and may not be usable to set up a Windows Live ID. An example of a managed domain is "verizon.net."

THINGS TO TRY

1. To work around this issue, use a valid e-mail address from a different domain. Then continue the Windows Live ID setup process.
2. If method 1 does not resolve this problem, contact Zune Customer Support. For more information about how to contact Zune Customer Support, visit the following Zune Web site:
