You deploy 2007 Microsoft Office suites or programs by using the Active Directory directory service. When you do this, updates and customized .msp files are not applied.
This issue occurs because Active Directory deployments of 2007 Office suites and programs do not include the .msp files that are found in the Updates folder of the network installation point. This condition limits customizations to those that are available in a Config.xml file that is located in the main product folder of the product that you are installing.
For more information about how to use the Config.xml file, see the 2007 Office Resource Kit Setup reference article that is titled "Config.xml file in the 2007 Office system." To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
A customized Config.xml file must be located in the main product folder of the product that you are installing. Additionally, this file must be called Config.xml.
You cannot specify command-line options for the Setup program when you assign Office. Therefore, you cannot specify an alternative location for the Config.xml file. For example, if you are installing Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007, you must customize the Enterprise.WW\config.xml file.
