SYMPTOMS
You try to install the Spanish language version of Microsoft Windows System Resource Manager (WSRM) on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003. This computer is already running an earlier version of WSRM. When you do this, you receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This problem occurs because of an error in the Spanish language version of the Wsrm.msi installer program. This error prevents the installer program from recognizing previously installed versions of WSRM.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, uninstall the previously installed version of WSRM. Then, install the new version of WSRM.
Note The uninstall process does not automatically save the current policies and other WSRM information. To save the WSRM information, export the information to a folder before you uninstall the earlier version of WSRM. Then, import the information from the folder after you install the new version of WSRM. Additionally, you must back up the accounting data before you uninstall WSRM. The accounting data is in the following file:
%SystemRoot%\System32\Windows System Resource Manager\JetDB\Wsrm.edb
To install the new version of WSRM, and to maintain the existing WSRM information and accounting data, follow these steps.
Step 1: Export the existing WSRM information
