Editing Resource Initials from Task Sheet

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project for Windows, versions 1.0, 3.0, 3.0a, 4.0 - Microsoft Project for the Macintosh, versions 1.1, 3.0, 4.0

When editing the Resource Initials field from any view other than the Resource Sheet or the Resource Form, the “Add to resource pool…” dialog will appear instead of the changed resource initials being entered. This is because Microsoft Project for Windows and Macintosh recognizes the new initials as being unique, rather than an edit of the original, and acts appropriately. Resource initials should only be edited from the Resource Sheet or Form.

Therefore, if you are working with a Task Sheet view and the applied table has the Resource Initials filed and you make an edit to the Resource Initials field, a new Resource will be added (or prompted to add to the resource Pool if AutoAdd Resources=No) to the resource pool.
