SUMMARY
Frequently used documents can be added to menus for easy access in Micorosoft Word for the Macintosh. Once a document is added to the menus, it can be opened by selecting the document’s name from the menu.
To add a document to a menu in Word 4.0 or later, follow these steps:
- From the Edit menu, choose Commands.
- Scroll through and select “Open File Name:” from the command list.
- Click the large “Open File…” button (located to the left of the “Do” button in Word 4.0 or the “Do It” button in Word 5.0) and select a document from the Open File dialog box. Click the “Open” button. The name of the file will will appear above the large “Open File…” button.
- By default, Word places documents under the Work menu unless another menu is selected by clicking the Menu arrow and selecting another menu. Select a different menu if desired.
- Click the Add button to add the filename to the menu.
- Click Cancel to exit the dialog box.
To use another method to add a document to the Work menu, follow these steps:
- Open the file to be added to the Work menu.
- Press COMMAND+OPTION+= (equal sign on the main keyboard). This changes the mouse cursor to a bold plus sign.
- Click on the title bar of the file opened in step 1.
To add a document to the Work menu in Word 3.0, 3.01, or 3.02, follow these steps:
- Press COMMAND+OPTION+= (equal sign on the main keyboard). This changes the mouse cursor to a bold plus sign.
- From the File menu, choose Open.
- Select the file to add to the Work menu and click Open.
If no Work menu previously existed, one is created automatically. In Word 3.0, 3.01, and 3.02, a document cannot be added to any menu except the Work menu.
