SUMMARY
If you run Word in graphics mode under Windows/386 and try to insert something from the clipboard, Windows displays the error message:
This application can only run in Exclusive mode
This happens only the first time an attempt is made to insert something from the clipboard.
This has been confirmed to be a limitation of Windows/386. When an application is in 640 x 480 graphics mode, it has to be in Exclusive mode. The WORD.PIF file supplied with Word starts Word in Foreground mode. The error message Windows displays is indicating that Windows is switching Word into Exclusive mode.
