No Linedraw, Shading, Borders on Canon Bubble Jet

SUMMARY

Word Version 5.00 doesn’t support graphics characters on the Canon BJ-130 Bubble Jet, even though such characters exist in the printer. Consequently, paragraph shading, double and thick paragraph borders, and cursor linedrawing are not supported as a result. Boxes drawn with the Format Border command have “horns” that extend below the bottom border of the box due to the printer’s nonstandard placement of the underscore character in the character box.

Graphics characters in the printer’s extended character set can’t be supported on this printer because after printing an extended character, the printer doesn’t return the cursor to the correct location on the page. The linedraw correction printer-control sequence cannot be used in this case to correct this problem because the printer has no provision for doing a reverse linefeed.
