SUMMARY

The basic sections of a printer driver are as follows:

  1. Header: Describes the printer hardware and gives details about the printing interface.

    Model Block: (Word version 5.00 and 5.50) Definition section that allows similar printer models with different capabilities to share the same PRD file.

  2. Font Description: Describes each font and size available.

  3. Character Width Table (CWT): Describes width of characters for proportionally spaced (PS) fonts.

  4. Character Translation Table (CTT): Describes how to produce characters not normally available on your printer.

  5. Printer Control Sequence Description (PCSD): Contains the control codes for producing character formats, margins, and sheet feeds.
