Summary: Page 1-4 of the “Microsoft COBOL Pocket Guide” incorrectly lists FILE CONTROL as the name of an Environment Division paragraph. The correct syntax is FILE-CONTROL. Using the wrong syntax (leaving out the hyphen) causes the compiler to generate a sequence of error messages, starting with “Section Missing or Misspelled.” The “Microsoft COBOL Compiler Version 3.0: Language Reference Manual” gives the proper syntax on Page A-18.
