- Microsoft Word for MS-DOS versions 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Word for MS_DOS merged data can be formatted to be a particular font, style, or size by formatting the field name in the main document. Any character formats in the data document are not transferred into the merged document.

For example, to format the names of companies as bold, format the company field name in the main document as bold. Also, it is not necessary to make bold the entire field name; if only one character is formatted, all the data for that field becomes bold.

Furthermore, if information in the data document is formatted as hidden text, it will print out when merged. This is because character formats in the data document are not transferred into the merged document.
