Article ID: 254328

Article Last Modified on 3/24/2001

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Picture It! 2000 Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q254328

SUMMARY

You can send a project as an attached file when you send an e-mail message from Microsoft Picture It! 2000 if you are using a standard e-mail client, such as Microsoft Outlook Express or Eudora. However, you cannot send a project as an attached file when you send an e-mail message from Picture It! 2000 if you are using a Web-based e-mail client, such as Hotmail.

Essentially, a Web-based e-mail client is an updated version of an Internet bulletin board. As such, when you send an e-mail message with an attached file using a Web-based e-mail client, you are actually posting a message and uploading the file that is attached to your message to a bulletin board. Web-based e-mail clients use the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or another similar process to upload files, such as attachments, from your computer to the server that hosts the bulletin board.

When you send an e-mail message with an attached file using a Web-based e-mail client, you must use FTP to upload the attachment to the bulletin board. To do that, you need to send the e-mail message from the Web-based e-mail client. You cannot send it from Picture It! 2000.

This article describes how to send a Picture It! 2000 project as an attached file to an e-mail message if you are using a Web-based e-mail client.
