This article describes how to choose your own file extension when you save a WordPad document.

To save a document that you create in WordPad with a different file extension, enclose the file name in quotes:

1. On the File menu, click Save As.
2. In the File Name box, type "filename.htm" (where filename is the name you want to give the file), and then click Save.
