256986 Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry

This article describes how to change the default refresh time for user name mapping on Services for UNIX (SFU) 2.0.

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

Using Registry Editor, locate the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Server For NFS\CurrentVersion\Mapping

Edit the CacheRefresh (REG_DWORD) value. The default value is 1,800 seconds. The valid range for this value is 900 to 86,400 in seconds (decimal).

After you make this change, stop and restart the NFS Server service.
