SYMPTOMS

When you insert an IBM 10/100 EtherJet CardBus network adapter card into an IBM ThinkPad 760XD portable computer running Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, you receive the following error message:

The device 'Texas Instruments PCI-1130 CardBus Controller' has detected a CardBus card in its slot, but the firmware on this system is not configured to allow the CardBus controller to be run in CardBus mode.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Windows 2000 Professional supports only 16-bit (R2) network adapters on this controller.
