In Microsoft Project 98, if you save a baseline or interim plan when the "Actual costs are always calculated by Microsoft Project" option is turned off and Actual Work is entered on a non-working day, you will receive the following error message:
If you click Details, you receive an error message similar to the following:
NOTE: The Actual costs are always calculated by Microsoft Project option is located on the Calculation tab in the Options dialog box. (On the Tools menu, click Options.)
This error occurs when all of the following are true:
- You save a baseline or interim plan.
- The Actual costs are always calculated by Microsoft Project option is not selected.
- You entered Actual Work for a task where a resource is assigned and a day that has been assigned Actual Work is a non-working day on the resource's calendar.
To prevent this problem if the conditions listed in the "Cause" section of this article are true, do not save a baseline or interim plan if the Actual costs are always calculated by Microsoft Project option is turned off.
To work around this problem select the Actual costs are always calculated by Microsoft Project option before you save your file. Note that if you use this work around, all actual costs that you have entered will be lost and Microsoft Project will calculate new costs.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).
