This article was previously published under Q173121

When you use Microsoft Query to return data from more that one table in a database, only data from the first table is returned to your Microsoft Excel worksheet.

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

  • Two or more of the tables included in your query have the same name. -and-

  • The tables with the same name have been defined with different owners in the database. -and-

  • You are using the Query Wizard to build your query.

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2).

For additional information about SR-2, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

151261 OFF97: How to Obtain and Install MS Office 97 SR-2

To work around the problem temporarily, click to clear the "Use the Query wizard to create/edit queries" check box in the Choose Data Source dialog box.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Query 97 for Windows. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2).
