This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:

  • The font size of the text in the cell is 10 or less.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Use the Double-Accounting Font Style

This method uses the double-accounting font style to push the text higher in the cell to separate the text from the underline. To use this method, follow these steps:

  1. Select the cell to which you want to apply the double-underline. On the Format menu, click Cells.
  2. In the Format Cells dialog box, click the Font tab. Click Double Accounting the Underline box. Click OK.

Method 2: Increase the Font Size

This method increases the font size, which separates the underline from the text in the cell. To use this method, follow these steps:

  1. Select the cell to which you want to apply the double-underline. On the Format menu, click Cells.
  2. In the Format Cells dialog box, click the Font tab. Select a Font size larger than 10 in the Size box. Click OK.
