Article Last Modified on 1/19/2007

APPLIES TO

This article was previously published under Q169276

SUMMARY

The OpenRecordset Method Help Topic in Microsoft Access 97 states the following for the Options parameter:

options Optional. A combination of constants that specify
characteristics of the new Recordset, as listed in
            Settings.

However, in an ODBCDirect workspace, you cannot use the Options parameter. You must supply a zero (0) for the argument. If you attempt to create syntax that supplies the option, or you omit the zero, as in the following syntax

   Set rstTmp = conPubs.OpenRecordset("Authors",dbOpenDynamic,,
   dbOptimistic)

you receive the following error message:

Run-time Error "3027:
Can't update. Database or object is read-only.
