Windows NT Logon Sound May Be Distorted with SCSI Hard Drives
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows NT Server version 3.1
- Microsoft Windows NT Workstation version 3.1
- Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server, version 3.1
If you have used the Sound option in the Control Panel to associate a sound with Windows Logon, the sound may be distorted or choppy during the logon sequence.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.1 and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
This problem has only been confirmed on machines with SCSI hard disk drives. Machines with IDE hard disk drives have not exhibited this problem.
