Excel: Removing the Print Area

Last reviewed: September 12, 1996
Article ID: Q102874

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 4.0, 4.0a
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 4.0

To remove a print area in Microsoft Excel, you can either delete the defined name, Print_Area, or you can select your entire worksheet and choose Remove Print Area from the Options menu.

When you select your entire worksheet (choose the Select All button directly left of the column heading A), the Set Print Area command (on the Options menu) changes to Remove Print Area. In Microsoft Excel version 4.0, you can also use the Set Print Area button located on the Utility toolbar. When your entire sheet is selected, choosing this button is the same as choosing Remove Print Area from the Options menu.
