Summary:

The Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet Series IIP and IIIP printers cannot print multiple envelopes unattended unless you change settings on the printer’s control panel and in Word for Windows.

More Information:

To configure the HP IIP or IIIP to accept the paper in the multipurpose tray as the correct paper size, change the following settings on the printer’s control panel and in Word:

HP IIP and IIIP Control Panel Settings

NOTE: In the steps below, the resulting LaserJet LCD display messages are enclosed in brackets ([]) after each step.

1. Job Size = COM10 (or other envelope size)

   1. Press the Online button to switch the printer offline.

   2. Press the Menu button six times. [Job Size]

   3. Press the +/- button until [COM10] appears.

   4. Press the Enter button to save the settings. [COM10*]

   5. Press the Online button to switch the printer online.

2. Trays = MPTray

   1. Press the Online button to switch the printer offline.

   2. Press the Menu button five times. [TRAYS]

   3. Press the +/- button until [MP TRAY] appears.

   4. Press the Enter button to save the settings. [MP TRAY*]

   5. Press the Online button to switch the printer online.

3. Man Feed = Off

   1. Press the Online button to switch the printer offline.

   2. Press the Menu button nine times. [MAN FEED]

   3. Press the +/- button until [OFF] appears.

   4. Press ENTER to save the settings [OFF*]

   5. Press the Online button to switch the printer online.

Word for Windows

1. From the Tools menu, choose Options.
2. Choose the Print icon from the Category list.
3. Clear the “Printer’s Envelope Feeder has been Installed” option, and then choose OK.
