Boot screen location in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10
Hi! I was just wondering about something. Where is the boot screen located in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10? (As in where the Windows logo is located.)
Re: Boot screen location in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10
"C:\Windows\Boot\Resources\bootres.dll"

Thanks for pointing me out the location of the file, but I couldn't find the windows logo. I want to find out where the windows logo is stored. I an wondering this because I want to find out the boot screen for the recently leaked Windows 8.1 build 9466, which is arm only, so I cannot install it and check.

Just use something like Resource Hacker to get the images.

mrfunnylaughs: I couldn't find any windows logo in bootres.dll. The only thing I could find was MUI and something called RCData in there. I am starting to think that the windows logo is somewhere else. I mean, I couldn't find it in bootres.dll (or is it in there, correct me if I am wrong).

If I recall correctly, some older versions of Windows stores all logos in a (??) WIM file and the WIM file gets stored as a resource in one of the DLLs. I could be completely wrong though.
