Have you even tried to do what it says?

Well , it has only 1 OS.
SO , I don't understand by 'boot to the OS that formatted these volumes'.

Perform a fresh install in VMware 9.x.

As the error says, you need to start the upgrade from within Windows, not from booting off the disk.
Re: Cannot upgrade from Windows 7 build 6608 to 6801
I installed it in VMware.
NOTE - The error happened just before the first restart.
If I had upgraded Windows from booting off the disk , this is not the type of error I would expect.

I upgraded from Windows itself.

Have you tried to run the command in that error message?

How can you run a command in "some way" and you are seriously overthinking the whole purpose of running writelog... JUST DO IT
