Remove Windows license sticker

Post by linuxlove »

I have some old cases with a Windows license sticker on them that I'd like to remove. What's the best way to get it off?
Goodbye.

Use a razor blade to get under the sticker and just lift it up. If it leaves any residue leftover on the case, use something like rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone to clean it up.

exactly what he said

with the slight addition of use a piece of plastic or something to keep it from falling down and sticking back to the case midway through (it takes a while to do properly)

Yes, use Vinegar, goo-be-gone or something with Petrolium in it. Use a small paint brush and brush the vinegar/water spray on it. Leave it tpo sit for about a half hour to sink through, then rempove with a razor blade!

Heat with a hair dryer and you can peel them off without them leaving backing paper behind. You can get any remaining glue off with warm soapy water.

It can, unless you want to save the stickers, which I'm guessing have useable codes on them.

Oh yeah! Using heat melts the adhesive and makes it less sticky!! My dad has one of those special things to take tape off of cardboard boxes!

Aren't this stickers made with... how to describe them... "pre cut paper" so you can't peel them off without breaking it? My netbook's licence sticker has a kind of dented pattern near the borders and when the sticker was comming off -by itself- part of the sticker remained on the case and part of it was broken following the pattern.

thats what the razor blade is for, slice under the pre-cuts, and it comes off cleanly if you do it right. cant comment on hairdryer, never used that method.

let the blade do the work, do not peel at all

You can peel them off with a hair dryer and a razor blade. Store them on wax paper.

I just peeled mine off. Made a mess (don't try this at home).
