Mysterious icon on Windows 2000/NT/XP Mplay32.exe program

Excuse me, but I seen a mysterious icon on mplay32.exe. What file extension does it serve? And what is the file format used for this? Also The Name of file.

The icon is a ball bouncing, mystery partially solved. Call me Captain Obvious.

I think it looks like something for an animation file, but not being able to initially make out its meaning may explain why the design was dropped so that clock.avi used the camcorder icon. To be honest, it looks like a lever.

That icon is not used by the media player, but it is reserved for "animation" devices. What kind of animation (given that AVI files get a separate "video" icon, while video-disc and video-cassette devices get the default icon, is anyone's guess. I remember in the early '90s we had early animation file formats like FLIC, so maybe they were thinking of that kind of stuff.
