Windows 8 DP UNHANDLED_THREAD_EXCEPTION BSOD

Post by windowsio »

Hi!
I gave up trying to install Windows 8 DP on my Lenovo Y700-17ISK, so I tried it on my MacBook Pro from ~2018. It gets further into the loading sequence but still crashes with a
UNHANDLED_THREAD_EXCEPTION BSOD. It is the public DP.
Thanks in advance.

What, exactly, is your question?
I upload stuff to archive.org from time to time. See here for everything that doesn't fit BA

Sorry about not finishing the post, but I was sleepy and writing on my phone... I was supposed to ask for suggestions on how to fix the BSOD.

If you have a coredump (MEMORY.DMP), load that up in WinDbg and do an "!analyze -v". From there you can drill down where (in what module, driver, etc.) the problem is.

Without any debugging information, it's hard to diagnose the problem

Where is that core dump stored?

What failed? The BSOD should say what exactly crashed, usually a .sys module.
Check the minidump, like other people suggested.
It's probably either a driver issue or a UEFI issue.

My guess is that your MacBook’s firmware is incompatible.
Have you tried installing in BIOS mode on the Lenovo you mentioned?
