VMware Workstation Player
What was the first version of Workstation that was splitted into two editions (Pro and Player)? I'm trying out the oldest Workstation Player there is so that I can run VMs with MemphisNT, Whistler, Neptune, and Longhorn builds and XP and Vista RTMs.

Re: VMware Workstation Player
Player existed before version 12 though, but it was a different product (even though it was reportedly still based on the same source code as Workstation).
VMware Player v1.0.0 has a build number of 16981 (later updated twice to 18007 and 18587), which puts it roughly in the same timeframe between Workstation 5.0 and 5.5.0

I upload stuff to archive.org from time to time. See here for everything that doesn't fit BA

I know that Player existed before version 12, but there was no version prior to 12 that there was a WorkStation Player.
Re: VMware Workstation Player
Maybe, but that was a simple change of name, it's still the same product. If you are asking specifically about "VMware Workstation Player", then yes, the first one was 12, since the Player equivalent of VMware Workstation 11 was VMware Player 7.gtgamer468 wrote:I know that Player existed before version 12, but there was no version prior to 12 that there was a WorkStation Player.
